A small group of Craven College BTEC National Diploma Outdoor Adventure students and staff took part in a 5 hour adventure race in glorious scenery and weather around the Howgills in Cumbria.
Adventure racing is where you have 5 hours to visit as many points (controls) as you can. Some can only be collected by mountain bike, others by foot.
Craven College Lecturer in Outdoor Adventure Activities, Sarah Cullen commented: “It was a fantastic experience for all concerned; first year students , James Kenyon and Ethan Hassell, made a huge effort in their first ever adventure racing. They came in 49th place, with a time of 3:36: 31 and a score of 265’.
James and Ethan together with the rest of their course members are running a similar event, Map Attack on the 21st March at Stainforth near Settle.
The event will be four hours long in which time you will visit as many checkpoints as possible on foot and mountain bike.
