College students work with International Designer

Posted on Monday 14th June 2010

Image from 'College students work with International Designer' Craven College Fashion and Jewellery Foundation Degree students presented the results of their creative workshop lead by international designer/inventor, Rachel Wingfield at the College Annual Fashion Show, ‘Light and Shadow’ on the 22 May 2010.

The show was held in the glass restaurant, Utopia at Broughton Hall Business Park, Skipton and was kindly sponsored by Silver Cross, Spec Savers and YPEF Enterprise.

Rachel Wingfield, originally from Skipton, has achieved international success in her innovative and environmentally sensitive artistic and scientific inventions. She has lead workshops in the UK and abroad, exhibiting at prestigious venues in New York, New Orleans and Moscow. Her work with Craven College culminated in the beautiful Lace Light Sculpture around which the Foundation Degree students presented the results of their own work.  The work reflected new and conceptual responses to the theme of ‘light and shadow’ and the students used their learning within the fashion and jewellery degree course to express new ideas.

The Foundation Degree in Fashion and Jewellery can be studied part time and anyone interested in finding out more is invited to come to the School of Art, Design and Media End of Year Show, 23 - 26 June 2010 or to visit the college website www.craven-college.ac.uk for further details.
