Craven College is located in Skipton, North Yorkshire. The town is known as the Gateway to the Dales, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty, providing a wonderful setting for study and down-time.
Skipton is a small town, with about 14,500 residents, but has all the facilities of a much bigger place.
We've got our own castle - over 900 years old, Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England with many events taking place throughout the year.
Skipton has superb independent shops, a famous market and two department stores so you can find anything you want on your doorstep, from major high street brands to unique "one-offs".
Voted "The Great Street Award" in 2009 by the Academy of Urbanism, the High Street is a unique and major tourist attraction, whilst the town celebrates its links to the historic importance of sheep.
There are lots of places to eat and drink, from cafe bars and tearooms to traditional pubs and restaurants with great reputations.
Skipton and its surrounding area is a safe place to live and study with friendly locals who are always willing to have a chat.
The Leeds Liverpool Canal runs through Skipton. You can go on boat trips or hire barges for special celebrations or long weekends; there's footpaths and picnic areas and in the Marina you'll find a great place to relax – overlooked by the statue of cricketing legend Fred Truman.
Skipton is the "Gateway to the Dales" – stunning limestone scenery and open countryside where you can participate in extreme sports such as rock climbing, pot holing and mountain biking or just take a leisurely stroll.
Skipton has its own train station with through trains to King's Cross – you can be in London in under three hours - whilst Leeds and Manchester are just short journeys away by bus or train, so you can enjoy the cultural and retail experiences they offer – not to mention the night life of these major cities.
Just down the road is the famous town of Ilkley and its moor and the Lake District is only about an hour away by road.
