How to Apply

You are in: Home » How to Apply

You can find details on how to apply for any of our courses in the information below. If you are unsure about anything, or would like to speak to a member of our admissions team, please call 01756 708008 for help and advice.

AS and A2 Levels

To study A Levels at Craven College you will require 5 GCSEs, A*-C. These must include English and Maths at A*-C. Alongside these general entry qualifications, each subject has its own subject- specific entry requirements.

If you achieve Grade D and above at AS Level, you may continue onto the A2 Level programme with three A2 Level subjects.

Full-time A Levels are normally allocated 5 hours per week unless there are small numbers, in which case the hours will be reduced accordingly, (however, this means that there will be a more beneficial tutor: student ratio). Classes with very low numbers will not run.

If you have studied a subject at GCSE, you must have achieved at least Grade C in order to study it at A Level; some individual subjects will require a B (see individual subject entry requirements).

If you are changing centres to continue with A2 Level study at Craven College you must have achieved at least a Grade C at AS Level. Proof of certification is required, and verification from your subject tutor to say that joining the A2 Level is possible before you can enrol.

For Sciences and Mathematics courses entry is subject to achieving 45 points on the Learner Achievement Tracker which measures the progression in qualifications of 16-19 year olds based on their prior attainment. This is a national system that uses GCSE results to predict A Level achievement and will be discussed with you at interview. This allows us to predict the suitability of the course.
