Recent changes in our society have dramatically highlighted the need for quality care provision and have, at the same time, created many fulfilling opportunities in a wide range of jobs for those who enjoy helping others.

Overview

A career in caring can provide great satisfaction, whether you choose to work with children, the elderly or disabled people.

Our programmes will challenge you, make you think about your personal attributes and values and how these lend themselves to care practices. Along with a caring nature you should have; patience, enthusiasm, good communication and organisational skills, with a genuine interest in helping others and lots of energy. You will also need to have a dedication to developing your skills in order to become a competent and outstanding practitioner in this area of work.

Our courses blend theory with practical experience in your chosen area of study. Our links with Airedale NHS Trust and local early years, health and care providers will help to put your theory learned in the classroom into practice through work experience and industry visits. Courses allow you to develop a good range of knowledge, skills and understanding which will prepare you either for higher education or working in a variety of settings.

You will be encouraged to produce a Craven College Record of Employability, Skills and Training folder (CREST). This will detail all aspects of your work at college and your work experience and is an ideal way of promoting your skills to an employer at an interview.
