The Governing Body (or "Corporation") of Craven College consists of 17 non-executive members who are collectively responsible for

• the determination of the educational character and mission of the institution and for the oversight of its activities
• the effective and efficient use of resources, the solvency of the institution and the Corporation and for safeguarding their assets
• approving annual estimates of income and expenditure
• the appointment, grading, suspension, dismissal and determination of the pay and conditions of service of the holders of senior posts and the clerk
• setting a framework for the pay and conditions of service of all other staff

Details of the current Governors and their background are available here under membership. The membership and work of the Corporation is determined by the Statutory Instrument and Articles which set out the constitution and procedures of the governing body, the internal powers, duties and responsibilities. Governors are recruited from a number of categories representing the local community and businesses, as well as staff and student representatives.

The Board itself meets approximately once a term and receives reports from the Principal, Finance Manager and other managers in the College. The Board also regularly receives presentations from staff in College on current issues.
