What stands out about this course?

This course allows candidates to demonstrate their ability in functional English: to investigate and analyse language; and to experiement and use language creatively.   This course offers a skills based approach to the study of English, enabling candidates to make ‘fresh’ and ‘individual’ responses to each element of assessment.

What will I study?

• Controlled Assessment - 3 pieces of written work encompassing literature, creative writing and the study of spoken language.
• Speaking & Listening - a discussion, a role play and a presentation.
• One examination of 2h 15minutes in which candidates respond to questions on pre-release material and demonstrate skills in range of written genres.

What are the entry requirements?

None required other than an interest in the subject.  Entry to distance learning is on completion of pre-course exercise and following induction with your home study tutor.

How will I be assessed?

• Controlled Assessment  -  40% of overall mark.
• Speaking & Listening  - 20% of overall mark.
• One examination - 40% of overall mark. Candidates are entered for Foundation or Higher Examination.

The course cost is £249 plus an exam fee of £30.
