Visit Our Campuses

Substantial investment has gone into creating attractive, well-resourced campuses where you can study in safety and comfort. 97% of our students say that our College is a safe place to learn.

Each campus is designed to reflect the curriculum areas that are delivered there, with industry standard equipment on hand to ensure that the practical skills you gain alongside the academic learning are relevant and up-to-date.

The Aireville Campus - Gargrave Road, Skipton - is our main campus.

Located next to Aireville Park it has stunning views across the town to the countryside beyond. Here you will find our School of Art and Media, the Aire Building, the Student Services Hub and our New Build. The campus is the centre for delivering our education and early years provision; health and social care; sport, travel and tourism; public services and many of our degree level programmes.

The School of Art, Media and Design has a long-standing reputation for excellence in art, design, performance and media. Courses are taught in specialist studios and workshops; these include spacious drawing and painting studios; a well equipped metalwork and jewellery workshop, a graphic design studio equipped with industry standard software; our own radio station, along with sound and video editing suites; a fashion and textiles workshop; a digital animation suite and photography studio; a theatrical make up workshop and performance spaces.

The Aire Building is home to our main Learning Resource Centre(LRC), which has an excellent book stock as well as an extensive e learning  catalogue. You can use it for private study, booking out computers to access our Virtual Learning Environment(VLE) or to do research. You can also bring your own lap-top along and plug into the network. The Aire Building also has general teaching rooms which are well equipped with access to IT for presentations and group work, along with the recently up-graded  specialist IT suites, with access to high spec PCs and Industry standard software.

Our New Building will be ready for students starting in September 2011 – check the web cam for an up-date on progress. We were only one of two colleges in the region to successfully bid for funds for new buildings. This new, environmentally friendly centre will provide state-of-the-art classrooms along with science laboratories and a space that will be used for performance and events. We’re re really excited about it and hope that you will be too.

The Aviation Academy – Leeds Bradford International Airport.

“The dedicated facilities...are outstanding at the Aviation Academy.”

Ofsted 2010.

All our Aviation related programmes are delivered at our prestigious air-side campus at the Leeds Bradford International Airport so that you can experience the industry at first hand. We also offer Travel and Tourism courses here as well.

Because we carry out training for the aviation industry we are always up-to-date in what we do and you will benefit from this. Our tutors have been recruited from the industry too and will be able to guide you towards your career aspirations through their wealth of experience and contacts. You can even take flying lessons with one of our partner organisations.

The Centre for Construction and Heritage Skills – the Airedale Business Park, Snaygill, Skipton.

This is our newest campus and is designed to deliver both contemporary and traditional craft skills. In addition to the well equipped workshops for practical construction skills training there are purpose built heritage workshops for blacksmithing, forge work, stone carving and stained glass making. There is also a materials testing laboratory and well equipped class rooms with IT facilities. The centre is also leading the way in the use of hand held technologies to record learner progress.

Centre for Rural and Equine Studies – the Auction Mart, Skipton.

“The department is located within the livestock auction, which enhances the college’s reputation with the industry and benefits learners. Learners also benefit from using a range of modern machinery from the on-site machinery dealership.”

Ofsted 2010.

Just a short walk from the Aireville campus is the centre from where we deliver all the practical skills relating  agriculture, animal care, countryside management, land based technology equine studies and horticulture. Situated in the centre of the Auction Mart complex, this campus benefits from the close contact with the agricultural businesses based there.  There is an extensive horticulture unit with a demonstration garden and a specialist garden design studio; a fully equipped rural mechanics workshop and a purpose built equestrian centre. Teaching areas are well equipped with IT facilities and there is also a well stocked Learning Resource Centre where you can access computers for private study or  log on to our Virtual Learning Environment.  The Centre is also used as the base for Outdoor Activities programmes and we have recently installed a climbing wall to enable students to develop practical climbing and instruction skills. (When not in use for teaching purposes, this facility can be used by all college students under supervision).

Centre for Service Industries - High Street, Skipton

Set in the heart of Skipton is the original college building. This is now our Centre for Service Industries, housing our catering, hospitality , hair and beauty courses. We operate commercial salons and the Brasserie restaurant so our students can experience what it is like to apply their practical skills in a real working environment and understand the issues around running a successful business. These facilities have a great reputation amongst the local residents and are booked up weeks in advance. Any of our students can benefit from them at a discount too. The Campus also has its own Learning Resource centre and IT rooms.

The  Environment

We like to think of our local environment as part of our campus. Where possible we try to integrate its resources, along with local know-how, to enrich our student experience. We make extensive use of the rich and varied environments and habitats of the Yorkshire Dales for our Environmental and Countryside related courses. Our Business students get involved in local market research activities. Our horticulture and garden design students have been part of the medal winning teams at the prestigious RHS shows at Harrogate. The caring related courses are closely informed by our relationship with the Airedale NHS Trust: whilst out Outdoor Activities students have enviable access to caves, crags, mountains, moors, lakes and white water.

The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

“Information technology and the college’s virtual learning environment are used imaginatively to extend learning.”
