Our Garden Design and Horticulture courses were more popular than ever in 2010, and we intend to build on this success in 2011 by offering a wide range of exciting, hands-on practical courses. Our courses in 2011 will comprise:
RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture
This ever popular course runs one day a week for one year, and covers all the basics of horticulture in detail. Topics include botany and plant science, soils, garden design, ornamental plant selection, growing fruit and vegetables, pests and diseases and protected cultivation.
RHS Level 3 Certificate in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture
This course runs for half a day a week over two years. It is the successful follow-on for those people who can’t get enough on their RHS Level 2 certificate, and includes all the topics but now covered in considerable detail.
RHS Practical Horticulture
Craven College aims to run RHS levels 1-3 practical courses in 2011-2012. Full, hands-on, practical experience is at the root of these qualifications.
City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Garden Design (evening class)
This course runs for half a day over one year (30 weeks). You will design three garden projects, and produce a portfolio based on artistic and graphic experimentation. There is the opportunity to design your own garden in this beginner’s course.
BTEC level 3 Diploma in Garden Design
This intermediate course is aimed at those who want to further their garden design knowledge, as well as ‘jobbing’ gardeners who want to improve their design skills. It includes detailed planting design, practical surveying skills, CAD and the design of several real garden projects.
Foundation Degree in Garden Design
This is the fully professional Garden Design qualification, recognised by the Society of Garden Designers. It is a part-time course, one day a week over three years. If your intention is to become a fully qualified garden designer then this is the course for you.
