Staff and students alike gathered to celebrate the Grand Opening of Craven College's new £3m Pen-y-Ghent building in November 2011. Over 100 invited guests were in attendance, including the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, Skipton Town Council's Chief Officer, other local dignities, representatives from local firms and head-teachers from schools across North and West Yorkshire and Lancashire. Julian Smith MP was invited to officially open the building and did so by aiding Acting Principal, Wes Johnson, plant a commemorative tree and cut the ribbon. A plaque was also unveiled in the new reception area.
The successful day offered live music, speeches given by Wes Johnson and Julian Smith MP, guided tours of the new £3m building, student performances of 'Jesus Christ Superstar', a fashion show by the Fashion & Textiles department, and food and beverages provided by the Craven College Hospitality & Catering students.
