Level Two & Three

Administration is a great starting role for progressing within a company giving you a broad picture of business practice. This Apprenticeship can be applied across a wide range of industries and disciplines.

Overview

You will be a professional and will need good organisational and communication skills and be well presented.

You will attend College and be able to produce reports and correspondence, and deal with staff within their organisation as well as with customers and clients.

Course duration is 12-24 months dependant upon age and experience.

Course Content

NVQ 2 Business Administration

Units Include:

Working within the Business Environment
Use of IT Systems
Use of Communication Systems
Dealing with Visitors

NVQ 3 Business Administration

Units Include:

Running Projects
Design & Production of Documents
Preparation of Text from Notes
Monitoring Information Systems
Organisation & Meeting Support

Additional Study

Key Skills - Application of Number and Communication
Certificate in Business and Administration Level Two/Three

How will I be assessed?

An assessor will visit you in your workplace to assess your competence and help you build a portfolio of evidence. Assignments and examinations are included in the Certificate in Business and Administration.

Entry Requirements

Employment / Work Placement in industry
GCSE Grade D in Mathematics and English

Career Progression

NVQ 4 in Administration
HNC / HND in Business
First Line Management once NVQ 3 is completed.

Business & Administration NVQ 3

After GCSEs I continued at school with A-levels, planning to go to University. Unfortunately I suffered a family bereavement which affected my studies and resulted in me leaving school.

I was offered a position as admin assistant at the Centre for Management Creativity, High Trenhouse. Knowing I had set my sights on University my manager suggested an NVQ. I attended College one day a week and worked four days, so I could earn and gain a professional qualification.

Throughout my time at High Trenhouse my IT and communication skills have improved considerably, I have gained a breadth of experience in lots of areas such as accounts and marketing. It’s a great place to work. I enjoy coming to College, and the fact that they incorporated other qualifications, like ECDL alongside the course, plus we get personal support and can work at our own pace.

The Advanced Apprenticeship is accepted at various universities. My tutors were very supportive and provided me with a reference. A year on I have been offered places by four universities and will soon be starting at Manchester Metropolitan University. The Apprenticeship has been my ‘stepping stone’ to success!
