Apprenticeships : Child Care
You will gain huge job satisfaction from a career working with children. Passion and an enthusiastic energy are essential. It is an important career, playing an incredibly valuable part in shaping the lives of future generations.
What will I study?
You will learn how to design educational and recreational activities, avoid conflict, handle difficult situations and understand the unique relationship that child care workers can have with children in their care.
How long does the course last?
Course duration is 12 – 24 months.
Course Content
Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce units include:
- Children & Young Persons Development
- Communication in Health, Social Care or Children & Young People’s Settings
- Introduction to Equality & Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children & Young People’s Settings
- Maintain & Support Relationships with Children & Young People
- Safeguard the Welfare of Children & Young People
Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce units Include:
- Develop Positive Relationships with Children, Young People and Others Involved in their Care
- Engage in Personal Development
- Promote Children & Young Persons Development
- Promote Equality & Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children & Young People’s Settings
Additional Study
- Functional Skills in English and Maths
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
How will I be assessed?
An assessor will visit the workplace to assess your competence and help you build a portfolio of evidence. You will attend college on a day release basis
Entry Requirements
- Employment in the industry
- GCSE grade C in English & Mathematics
Career Progression
- Nursery management or senior nursery officer on completion of Level 3 Diploma
