Apprenticeships : Carpentry & Joinery

Carpenters and joiners are required to build and install a wide range of timber structures.You will learn both site carpentry which deals with the installation of floors, doors, windowsand roofs on both domestic and commercial buildings, and bench joinery which is the production of specialist timber components such as kitchen components, specialistwindows, doors and staircases.

Units of study may include

Level 2

  • Carrying Out Maintenance on Timber Components
  • Erecting Structural Carcassing
  • Installing First & Second Fix Components

Level 3

  • Erect Complex Structural Components
  • Maintain Non-Structural & Structural Components
  • Manufacture Shaped Joinery Products
  • Setup Fixed & Transportable Machinery

Entry Requirements 

  • CITB Test
  • Employment within the industry 
  • GCSE English or Maths A*-C

Career Progression

  • Progression from Level 2 to Level 3
  • Progression from Level 3 to University 
  • Supervisor/Manager role
