Contact Mary Waterfall on 01756 693805 for an informal chat or send her an email at: mwaterfall@craven-college.ac.uk.

What if I want to volunteer for something and the college has not advertised a volunteer role in that area?

We would be happy to discuss this with you, and if appropriate create a new opportunity to suit your interests.

Do I need a CRB check?

All volunteers who will regularly come into contact with under 18s or vulnerable people as part of their volunteer role will be subject to screening in line with college policy, i.e. CRB check (free to volunteers), References, Health check. Ill health will not necessarily be a bar to anyone applying to volunteer but will allow us to make adjustments to the volunteer role.

Can I claim expenses?

The college will reimburse expenses for Travel costs and refreshments for volunteers within college. Learners who volunteer in the community need to refer the policies of the organisations they are working with.

Will volunteering affect my benefits?

You are free to volunteer while you are receiving benefits as long as the work you do is unpaid, and you meet the rules of your benefit - full guidance can be found on the Direct.gov UK Government website.
