The Governing Body is responsible for the overall functioning of the college and consists of 20 members who are recruited from a wide cross-section of the local community and businesses, as well as representatives of the staff and student populations. We aim to reflect the community the college serves and details of the current Governors and their background are available here under meet the governors. Generally, non-members (staff, public or press) are not able to attend meetings, but there is provision for limited numbers to attend some meetings in an observer only capacity and anyone interested should contact the Clerk, at least 24 hours prior to the meeting date.
The membership and work of the Corporation is determined by the statutory Instrument and Articles which set out the constitution and procedures of the governing body, the internal powers, duties and responsibilities. Collectively, the Board is responsible for:
The Board itself meets approximately once every half-term and receives and considers reports from the Principal, Director of Finance and other managers in the college. The Board also regularly receives presentations from staff in college on current issues and actively engages with the Learner Council to hear the views of the students for which it is responsible.
At the last Ofsted inspection in October 2010, governance was graded Outstanding, and for the continued success of the college it is essential that we recruit dynamic Board members with the right skills and experience.
