AS Level

  • Philosophy of Religion, Plato and Aristotle; Religion and science; Religious Ethics: Ethical theories; Medical ethics; War and peace; Islam.


A2 Level

  • Philosophy of Religion: Religious experience; Miracles; Life after Death.
  • Religious Ethics; Environmental ethics; Business ethics; Sexual ethics; Islam.

More information

Religious Studies addresses challenging and topical key issues of philosophy, ethics and religion. You will have the opportunity to explore subjects such as the ethics of war and peace, global warming, Islam in the west, medical ethics, life after death and the existence of God. You will gain independent thinking skills, the ability to debate, construct arguments, evaluate evidence and understand the views of others.


What are the entry requirements?


Where will it take me?

AS to A2 level and A2 to Higher Education. Religious Studies is useful for courses and careers in Theology and Religious Studies, Philosophy, Sociology, Government and Politics, Medicine, teaching (RE is a compulsory subject in schools), social work, the probation service, police and many others. Religious Studies combines particularly well with Philosophy – there is a good deal of common ground between the two subjects.
