The financial support available to you.

Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

Has now been withdrawn and we are awaiting information about the funding which may be available to support learners aged 16-19. We will up-date you with information as soon as we have it.

Adult Learning Grant

The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) is a government funded scheme aimed at assisting students to return to study. You may be eligible to receive £10, £20, or £30 per week. To qualify you must be:

Army Bursary Scheme

The Army works in partnership with Craven College to support courses prior to joining the Army. If you are accepted onto the scheme, and you successfully complete your course, you will receive a bursary of £2000. This scheme is available in many of our subject areas - students in Construction, Animal Care, Media, ICT and Catering are all in demand for careers in the Army. Residential Grant

Funding may be available to assist students who live more than 15 miles from Skipton and need to move or lodge locally in order to attend their course.

College Student Support Fund

Funding is also available to assist students from low income families with the costs of coming to college. This may be to help with equipment, specialist clothing or books.

Craven College Charitable Trust

The Charitable Trust may help anyone who needs financial assistance whilst studying at Craven College. Applications are dealt with on an individual basis by the Trustees.

Childcare Support

Support with nursery fees and childcare costs is available from the government Care to Learn scheme for students under 20 years iof age. If you are over 20, the college has support funds available to assist with childcare costs either at the college’s own nursery or at a private provider.

Travel Policy

We have a generous travel policy which currently means that you pay a maximum of £1 per principal journey to college. This is based on the cheapest form of travel by public transport and making use of available travel passes.
