Travel
New Travel Policy Confirmed for Full-Time Students – You pay the first £1 per day and Craven College covers the rest.
Students from North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lancashire (and further afield) make an effort to come to Craven College because of the services that we offer our learners. In recognition of the fact that this increases additional costs to studying for many students, the college has made a commitment to contribute by putting in place a generous travel policy for full-time students.
What this means for you
- You pay the first £1 per day on your principal journey to college - based on the cheapest form of travel by public transport and making use of available travel passes
- If your principal journey is more than £1 per day and is within the college’s designated area Craven College will pay the excess of up to £200 per term
- To qualify for this you must be enrolled on a full-time Further Education course at Craven College for the academic year 2011/2012
Travel Bursary
In order to overcome the travel expenses barrier, ALL Craven College learners are eligible for a Travel Bursary. This means you will not have to pay more than £1 per day to attend college.
To qualify for this bursary, you must meet the following requirements:
- 85% attendance throughout term
- Still be in attendance at the time of submission
- Complete a Self-Certification of Household Income form (which must indicate a household income of less than £30,810)
- Tickets for each day claimed must be handed in with the claim form at the end of each term
- Travel claim form must be submitted on or before the closing date (see below)
- If you already have a North Yorkshire Travel Pass, or any other, you will only be eligible for a refund on the cost of the Travel Pass (with 85% term-time attendance)
- Eligibility for a Travel Bursary for the Spring and Summer terms is dependent on all work for the Autumn term being completed by Christmas vacation
- Payment will be subject to academic performance and behaviour
